Distripaq wanted to optimise the delivery processes of the free newspaper "METRO", published by one of its main clients.
The solution was meant to provide real-time information on quantities of newspapers delivered and possibly taken over by drivers. The particularity of this activity is to have a number of important points of delivery (70 points deposit average driver) located in disparate places (halls station, hydrants underground shopping malls, etc…). The solution provided by Mov'Age is based on the application TourCompanion Track & Trace and on the optimisation tool, Tour Solver of Magellan Engineering. The Optimiser has enabled major productivity gains while reducing the number of kilometers. With the solution TourCompanion embedded on their mobile terminals, the delivery people view the points of deposit identified by barcode scanning, are assisted by a TomTom navigation, are able to complete an electronic report, notify the end of the mission with a signature on the PDA - the service allows the supervisor to have a real-time visibility of the activity and a guarantee/proof that the delivery has been made at a certain time. This information is used by the supervisor to rearrange the collection of newspapers and redispatch those which have not been distributed. The TourCompanion mobile solution, adapted for Distripaq, improved the whole processes of delivery, while reducing costs. |
